This movie had basically very mixed reviews and feelings from the comic book society. Being a comic book geek myself, I found that the movie was not really true to the comics. Also if anybody is wondering, no this movie is not a prequel and does not in any way continue to the last X-Men movies.
What this movie does well though, is that it stands alone. Director Matthew Vaughn does a great job in capturing the essence of the movie, that being the relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr.
Both the actors that portrayed these two characters on screen gave a terrific performance but I got to say, Michael Fassbender's performance practically stole the show away. His ability to capture the emotions and actions of Magneto was simply superb.
Other than that, the movie itself has a rock solid script. Again i would like to emphasize that this movie is a reboot and that it stands alone. Do not associate it with the previous films and comics and you would thoroughly enjoy the film.
Although in my opinion certain choice of characters they could have done without, overall it is a great movie and the acting was simply superb. Also, watch out for some cameos from the previous films. And if you listen closely, S.H.I.E.L.D is also mentioned in the film. The very same SHIELD organization featured in the Ironman movies and Thor.
I give the show a 7 out of 10 review. Enjoy :)
