I've basically divided this post into 2 sections. One are shows I watch simply because it's a guilty pleasure (they do not have to be good) and some I watch cause its just freaking awesome.
*definition of freaking awesome = great script, great cast, great acting.
Guilty Pleasure:
1. Gossip Girl (hey I kinda like Ed Westwick's character. Plus the guy wears nice suits)
2. Pretty Little Liars (ok the only reason I watch this show cause the girls are kinda hot)
3. Grey's Anatomy (been following it since it premiered and I do like Eric Dane's character)
4. Hawaii Five-O (nostalgia and the awesome theme song!)
5. 90210 (I'm still wondering why I follow this)
6. One Tree Hill ( loved season 1 because of the whole basketball aspect to it. Now.....)
7. The O.C (What can I say, I love Peter Galagher)
8. Smallville (Huge Superman fan. Plus my mum thinks Tom Welling is super cute)
9. Glee (The music is kinda good........ at times)
Freaking Awesome:
1. Game of Thrones (Kings,Dragons,Direwolves and Zombie/Vampires.Recipe for utter awesomeness)
2. Dexter (A blood spatter analyst that works for the police who is a serial killer at night. Michael C. Hall is probably one of the best actors on television)
3. Mad Men (Jon Hamm = Don Draper. Enough said)
4. True Blood ( Probably one of the best vampire series ever made. Sorry Buffy!)
5. Fringe ( In my opinion the best science fiction show presently on TV )
6. Vampire Diaries (nearly was put into the guilty pleasure list but I gotta admit, this show has some talent. Plus Ian Sommerhaldenr is a damn fine actor)
7. Californication ( David Duchovny is Hank Moody. A writer who is an alcoholic, sex addict and maybe even a drug addict. Need any other reasons to watch the show?)
8. The Walking Dead (based on the comic by Robert Kirkman, this show has a terrific cast and is based on a solid storyline. One of AMC's finest)
Shows that I am planning to watch soon:
1. The Killing (AMC's new drama that has been getting a lot of attention)
2. Falling Skies (Alien Invasion!)
3.Terra Nova (Dinosaurs!)
4. Alcatraz (Prisoners mysteriously disappear and then reappear years later without aging. Sounds interesting enough)
5. Awake (the series trailer seriously moved me. Check it out on youtube! I won't do it justice by describing it)
So these are the shows that I watch and going to watch. Any suggestions? Feel free to add as you wish! But please do submit a short reason as to why you like the show :)

Random Updates on Movies,Games and Series!
It was just confirmed today, that Robin aka Tim Drake will be a playable character in Batman Arkham City! A massive follow up to the first game, this time the game's map is nearly 5 times larger than Arkham Asylum. Catwoman is also another playable character in the game and from the youtube gameplay demos I've seen, the game looks wicked! Can't wait! Oh yea and the pic above is the official pic of Robin from the game.
Next, it's also confirmed that the famed 100 Bullets comic book is being developed under Showtime by none other than David S. Goyer. If you're wondering why his name sounds familiar it's because he has co-written both Batman movies with Christopher Nolan and also the Blade franchise. Showtime has brought you hit shows such as Dexter, Californication, The Tudors and The L Word. Can't wait to see what they'll do with a 100 bullets.
Last but definitely not least, the new Superman movie that is coming out next year seems to have an awesome cast! It was just confirmed last week that Russel Crowe will be playing Clark Kent's real dad Jor'El. He joins the cast of Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon and much more! David S. Goyer who is mentioned above is also involved with the movie. Aptly called the Man of Steel, I will probably be camping outside the cinema next year for this one. Zack Snyder please for the DC Universe's sake, do not disappoint me.

Green Lantern
“In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil’s might, Beware my power Green Lantern's Light!
An inspiring oath from a not so inspiring movie. The movie was not bad but it was not great either. An above average movie from an average script, average acting and great special effects. Mark Strong's acting is wasted behind the make-up of Sinestro. Ryan Reynolds was basically playing the same character he has played in every single movie, only this time in a Green Lantern outfit. Blake Lively on the other hand was horrible, a definite miscast on the part of the casting director.
Don't get me wrong, I always taught Ryan Reynolds would have been perfect for the part of Hal Jordan as the character was always quirky and funny, two characteristics that Ryan Reynolds can pull off very well. At the end of the day it comes down to the script and mediocre dialogue. The banter that goes on between Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris is neither funny nor smart. It seems as though the two shared no chemistry whatsoever. Even Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth in Thor had more chemistry than these two.
It's sad to see yet another superhero movie suffer the same fate of some other superhero movies. Even spectacular graphics and effects will not disguise a movie from its boring script and average acting. It's a sad sad day for the comic book world, especially DC and Green Lantern fans such as myself :(
I give a 6 out of 10 for this movie (only because the movie had some good moments).

American Pie Reunion
![]() | |||
| The Boys of American Pie Reunion |
It's said that the show will be about parenthood and how they all come together at their high school reunion prom. Set for an April 2012 release, I can't wait! I'm sure all you American Pie fans out there feel the same way to. I wonder if Shannon Elizabeth still has the same 'effect' on Jason Biggs from 10 years ago. Webcams anyone?
Dylan Dog: Dead of Night
What can I say about the film? I read the online reviews before entering the cinema and I knew not to expect much. Produced from a budget of only 20 million USD how good can a movie on the supernatural get?
Let's start with the bad points first. The main thing that stood out for me was the acting. Brandon Routh was his usual stiff charming self. The lead actress Anita Briem irritated me throughout the show with her bad acting. When the two main casts of the show can't carry their own weight, then the movie is in some serious trouble. I do not know how the producers and director allowed this to happen.
Secondly, the graphics and make up effects. I knew not to expect much but come on........I see TV series like Nip/Tuck and Supernatural with better effects compared to this movie.
Lastly, as many Dylan Dog fans would agree with me, the movie was never really faithful to the comic book. I mean come one, it's an Italian comic book and the character Dylan Dog is based in London. With the budget constrictions I guess they had to go with New Orleans instead.
The only good thing the movie had going was Sam Huntington's comic relief character Marcus. His acting was great and funny. Also he and Brandon Routh kinda had some on screen chemistry probably due to the fact the starred in Superman Returns together.
Overall, Brandon Routh managed to capture the essence of Dylan Dog. When I think about it, it's a shame and a waste that they did not have the appropriate budget for the movie. The show could have been so much more, instead they settled for something less. Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington have yet another failed movie to add to their resumes and it's a pity cause it's not entirely their fault. Superman Returns had a bad director with a bad script and the same can be said for this movie. If only Bryan Singer did a good job with Superman Returns. We'll probably be watching Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington in a sequel right about now, instead of seeing them in a low budget flick. A shame.
I give this movie a 5 over 10 rating. It's a shame for a movie that could have been so much more.

Super 8
Before I start, some of my friends asked me why was the movie called Super 8? Well it's called Super 8 because of the super 8 mm film invented by KODAK in 1965. Another interesting fact I found online is that when J.J Abrams was young he was the one that was given the job of editing Steven Spielberg's old Super 8 short films. Short films that Spielberg filmed when he was young. Now, Spielberg acts as the producer for J.J Abrams Super 8 film. Ironic isn't it?
Super 8 is set in 1979 and J.J Abrams does a really good job at making you feel as though you're there during those times. I loved the soundtrack, especially when the kids were singing The Knack's My Sharona. Lets not forget to mention Michael Giacchino brilliance as a composer. If you're wondering who he is, he's the one that won composer of the year at the Emmy's for the movie UP.
The movie is about 5 pre-teen kids who are trying to film a zombie film on a Super 8. There's the bossy director who is always updating his scripts at the very last minute, an extremely nervous lead actor, a kid who always seems to have explosives in hand and plays the lead zombie, a make up artist that is into model trains and lastly Elle Fanning as the girl they recruited last minute to play their lead actor's wife.
The movie truly begins when the kids witness a train derailment while shooting a scene for their movie at the train tracks. I will not go into details to spoil to show for you but let's just say that it was clear the J.J Abrams pays homage to Spielberg's E.T and Close Encounters of the Third Kind throughout the film. The way the show was filmed, how he played with the lighting effects and even the sountrack.
In my opinion, this movie is definitely one of the best movies released this year and maybe even Abrams best. The emotional appeal of the movie was great and very real. The kids delivered a stunning performance especially Elle Fanning. Even the visual effects team did a great job with the graphics. Overall, a fantastic show was made simply from a reported budget of 45 million USD.
I give this movie a strong 8 out of 10. Real movie magic was created, kicked off by a breath-taking train crash sequence. Enjoy :)

December 2012
The month of December 2012 is fast shaping to become the best month of next year for movies! Yes I'm excited and you'll know why soon enough.
Superherohype.com just confirmed that J.J Abrams will indeed be shooting Star Trek as his next movie. I can already hear Trekkie fans the world around crying tears of joy ( tears are rolling down my cheeks as i type this).
It is also confirmed that Jack Snyder's Superman starring nothing other than Henry Cavill in the leading role of Clark Kent/Superman will also be released on that month. Kevin Costner shall be playing his earth dad and Diane Lane is his earth mum. Also Amy Adams will be playing Lois Lane and critically acclaimed actor of HBO's series Boardwalk Empire, Michael Shannon as General Zod! (crying even harder now)
Next we have The Lone Ranger. Yes the very same Lone Ranger from 'those good old days'. Armie Hammer breakout star of The Social Network shall be playing the ranger himself and Johnny Depp as Tonto, Lone Ranger's funny sidekick. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Gore Verbinski I can already see the movie being a huge hit!
And I saved the best for last.......Drum-role please......Probably the biggest movie to be released in a decade.........It is none other than Peter Jackson's The Hobbit! Filmed in 2 parts the movie showcases the return of Gandalf the Grey and Hugo Weaving as Lord Elrond. Also Orlando Bloom is said to have already signed on as his title role Legolas! I can already hear girls gasping for air in the cinema, maybe some guys too ;)
